Port Tech 2016 Expo

Clean, green, self-driving machines! These are a few of the incredible technologies our students were able to experience today at the Port Tech 2016 Expo. Thanks to your support, our students engaged in a day filled with hands on learning regarding the latest, cutting edge technology that is and will be shaping the way our current and future workforces, especially here in the Harbor area, deliver goods and services.

Students got to take a ride in a self-driving, autonomous vehicle, a vehicle that one day could have the capability of reshaping what our existing infrastructure currently looks like, participate in a mock-satellite launch from ground control, learn what the future of same-day delivery service will be like with drone technology and climb aboard the first ever electric-powered, zero emissions heavy duty truck.

This day would not have been possible without the initiative and support of Ann Lee Carpenter of Port Tech, Superintendent Christopher Downing and his dedicated team at Local District South, and our wonderful faculty and leadership teams from Phineas Banning, Gardena, Narbonne and San Pedro High Schools. Thank you all for working hard to make today happen!
