Dual Enrollment Program

Phineas Banning High School offers a Dual Enrollment Program in partnership with LA Harbor College Culinary Arts, providing students in MATCH Academy the opportunity to earn college credits while exploring their passion for culinary arts.

Program Overview:

• Eligibility: Open to students interested in becoming chefs.
• College Credit: Students will take college-level courses that count towards the LA Harbor College Culinary Arts Program.

Course Structure:

• First Semester: Culinary Arts 113
  • Focuses on fundamental culinary skills, including kitchen organization, sanitation and safety, nutrition, basic knife techniques, culinary terminology, ingredient function, product identification, and food preparation theory.
• Second Semester: Culinary Arts 114 Aromatics
  • Explores the history and purpose of herbs and spices within various world flavor profiles. Students will develop a refined palate for tasting and using herbs, spices, blends, and condiments, learning when and how to incorporate them into their cooking.
